Criteria:Student who has a parent hurt/killed in a work related accident and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year school, includes technical trade school.

Education Matters (Essay)

Criteria: This program is open to all U.S. high school students, 13 and older who are legal residents of the U.S.  The application requires an essay (250 words or less) addressing the following topic:  What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or the college is a waste of time and money?

Award: $5,000

$500 Arizona/NRMCA High School Essay Contest (Essay)

Criteria:Open to all high school students ages 16-18 and must not exceed 600 words typed.  The essay will be judged on content and writing ability but please note that this is not a report on concrete but an essay about concrete.  The winning author will be asked to submit a photo.

Award:$500 which could also lead to an additional $2,000 to $5,000 scholarship

Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award Application (Essay)

Criteria:Young women ages 14 – 17 who have demonstrated excellence and going above and beyond in her volunteer efforts to make her community or school a better place.

Outstanding Young Man/Woman of the Year

Purpose:This program recognizes and honors the outstanding achievements of young people, enhances the perception of youth and raises community awareness of the positive contributions of youth.

Criteria:Current high school student and live within ºÃÉ«µ¼º½ City limits and complete application online along with supportive documentation to the review committee no later than the deadline.

Pasta Tales Essay Contest sponsored by Olive Garden (Essay)

Criteria: Open to students in1^stthru 12^thgrade.  Student will need to write a 50-250 word essay addressing “Describe how furthering your education beyond high school will help make your dreams come true.”

Award: 12 – grade level winners will receive a $500 savings bond and dinner at Olive Garden

                  1 Grand Prize Winner will receive a trip to New York, dinner at Olive Garden in Times Square and a $2,500 savings bond.

Burger King McLamore Foundation

Criteria:  All North America high school seniors, Burger King Employees, their dependent children, spouses or domestic partners are eligible to receive up to $50,000 in scholarship awards.

Carson Scholars

Criteria: Applicants must be nominated from their school.  They must be in grades 4^ththru 11^thand have a GPA of 3.75 or higher in English, reading, language arts, math, science, social studies, and foreign language.  They must have participated in some form of voluntary community service beyond what is required by their school.  Scholarship recipients must attend a four-year college or university upon graduation to receive funds.

Criteria: Students must be high school juniors and have a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA for their 9^thand 10^thgrades.  Applicants must also demonstrate accomplishments in community service and leadership and have faced a significant roadblock or challenge.

Criteria: Applicants must be high school students 9^th-12^thgrade residing in the U.S. and live within 75 miles of Best Buy store, have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have community service or work experience.  Student must plan to enter a four-year institution of higher learning in the U.S. no later than the fall term following graduation.

Criteria:Students must submit an application and an essay describing how ideas with someone from another culture benefited or shifted their point of view.

Criteria: Students must be under the age of 25 and submit the most comprehensive answers to (2) two essay questions.
