Meet the Teacher

Welcome, English Language Learners:

My name is Marianne Durell and I teach ELD at Barry Goldwater High School. I am from Central New York and taught English both there and in New Hampshire before teaching in the beautiful state of Arizona. Before teaching in Deer Valley, I taught ESL to adults at a small school in Glendale. This is my 9th year in the Deer Valley School District and my 6th year teaching English Language Learners. I have a daughter who is a junior at Grand Canyon University and a 12-year-old daughter who will be a 7th grader at Sierra Verde Elementary, another 好色导航school.  

My family and I love to read, hike, kayak, travel and run. My husband and eldest daughter, Ani, who runs for GCU, have been running and competing for many years. I've run two marathons and am excited to say that I qualified for Boston and hope to travel there to run in April. This year I have taken on the role of XC coach and our season is already underway. We've been running all summer and the athletes are making amazing progress. 

I can't wait to meet all of you.
