A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME!
I grew up in the Yakima Valley, in Washington State, where I taught for 14 years before moving to Arizona 22 years ago. I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at Gavilan Peak, for 5 years, before becoming a part of “The Diamond Canyon Family” 18 years ago. Three of the highlights of my career have been receiving Teacher of the Year in 2011 for Deer Valley School District, having the privilege to attend the Phil Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy in July 2014, and receiving the "Classroom of Excellence"!
In 1987, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, K-8 and a minor in Special Education, K-12. I received my Master's Degree in Professional Development in 1992. I also have certificates in both Early Childhood Development and SEI (ELL) and Gifted. The majority of my teaching career has been in the primary grades, K-4.
When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family; husband Mark, my children Monique and boyfriend Rey, Kaleb and wife Heather and a 'Proud Grandma' to their son Tristan, 5 months, and our Australian Shepard, Lola.
