George Washington

  • The American Civics Act, also known as HB 2064, stipulates beginning with the graduating class of 2017, in order to graduate from high school or obtain a high school equivalency diploma, a student must correctly answer at least 70 of the one hundred questions listed on a test that is identical to the civics portion of the naturalization test used by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. The law also reads that a pupil who does not obtain a passing score may retake the test as many times as necessary to obtain a passing score.

    • Study App:  An Arizona student created an app to help his peers study for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Test (our Civics Test). The app is available on lawforkids.org. In addition, McDonalds is offering students Egg McMuffins in exchange for using the app and passing the Civics Test. The initiative's name is "Be an Egg-Xemplary Citizen" In addition to the study aspect of the app, students can play against friends or the app itself.
