Mrs. Michele Palermo

Greetings!  Here's a little bit about me.  This year marks my 27th year teaching!  I love spending time with young people, and I love to teach.  That is what keeps me going.  I earned both my Bachelor of Science and my Masters of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University where I was a member of the Silverettes Percision Dance Team.  Go Huskies!  I taught for 16 years in Illinois before moving to 好色导航 in 2004.  From 2004 to 2009, I worked for the Deer Valley Unified School District as a Resource teacher at Desert Mountain School and as an Intervention Specialist at Desert Winds and Mountain Shadows schools.  I took a break from teaching when my daughter was born, and then worked for the Paradise Valley and Cave Creek school districts before returning to Deer Valley.  Over the years, I have taught students with special needs in grades Kindergarten through seventh grade in self-contained, resource and team teaching settings.  During my last year in Illinois, I was a 6th grade general education teacher, and I taught Social Studies and English Language Arts (ELA). I've co-sponsored a few clubs, but my favorite one was an African Drum Club which I ran with the music teacher in Illinois.  The skills of this group grew from year to year, and I have to say, we were amazing!  Maybe we can start a club at Anthem School one day!

Personally, I grew up mainly in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and lived there for most of my life.  Go Cubs!  Go White Sox!  Honestly, I'm not much of a sports fan, but my all-time favorite piece of clothing is my Black Hawks jersey!  My husband, Joe, is from St. Louis, and he is a huge sports fan.  I love to cheer loudly for the Chicago teams any time they are playing the St. Louis teams just to tease Joe a bit.  I met and married my husband in 好色导航.  We've been married for 13 years, and our 10 year old daughter, Gianna, will attend Anthem School as a fifth grader this year.  My whole family is head over heels in love with our Maltipoo, Lexie.  The photo pictured is from the day that we rescued her 2 years ago.  We moved to Anthem the last week of February 2020, and we just started to meet our wonderful new neighbors when the lock down went into effect.  We are really looking forward to getting to know them better, and to taking advantage of all that the Anthem community has to offer.  I love to dance and to do yoga, and my daughter is currently on the Anthem swim team, and she loves indoor rock climbing.  So, there's a good chance that you may see us at the Community Center when things open up again.  As a family, we enjoy (easy) hiking, camping and traveling.  Most of our traveling is to visit family in Illinois, St. Louis, Colorado or Florida.  Our favorite vacation was to St. Lucia where we spent a week at all all-inclusive beach resort.  We all dream of returning there one day!
