"Ms. K" serves as a K-8 art and dance educator at Anthem School and sponsors a chapter of the National Junior Art Honor Society, serves on various committees, and co-hosts Fine Arts Night.  Her students have taken top honors at the Arizona State Fair Art Competition and the Arabian Horse Association’s Student Art Show and her student’s work is showcased annually at the Deer Valley Unified School District Middle School/High School and Elementary Art Shows.  Killebrew is an active member of the National Art Education Association, the Arizona Art Education Association, the National Dance Education Association, and the Arizona Dance Education Association. She loves helping her students discover the positive physical and mental benefits of participating in both visual and performing arts.      

Ms. Killebrew graduated from the University of Utah in 2001 with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.  On campus, she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and the ballroom dance team, and was runner-up in the Hearst Radio Journalism competition. Off-campus, she danced in productions choreographed by Darryl Yeager and Kenny Ortega and was an ambassador for the Utah Attorney General’s program to reduce dating violence and support victims of domestic violence.   She studied abroad in the Middle East and interned for Senator Bob Bennett in Washington, DC, researching legislation related to education, art, and anti-ballistic missile defense and later worked for award-winning documentarian Ken Verdoia at PBS Affiliate KUED Channel 7, where she contributed to the documentary “Joe Hill” and covered the 2000 election cycle.  Following graduation, she received a fellowship from the International Radio and Television Society to work for media icon Susan Zirinsky, then head of CBS News, in New York City.  After covering the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City for the Deseret News, Killebrew left journalism to care for her growing family.

Over the next 20 years, Killebrew and her husband welcomed four children into their home. During this time, she did portrait, wedding, and commercial photography; served on the Anthem Parks Committee; started what is now the second-largest Girl Scout troop in Arizona; became a certified archery instructor; organized youth camps; worked as a seamstress for Musical Theater of Anthem; coached a First Lego League team; was a K-12 substitute teacher; and served for three years as Artist in Residence creating choreography for the Renaissance Highly Gifted and Music Academy at Highland Lakes School.  She continued to expand her knowledge through undergraduate psychology and family science classes with Brigham Young University-Idaho and masterclasses with dance and choreography experts, including Sheryl Goddard and Sherry Dundish Henderson.
