   I am so excited to be at Mirage Elementary and a part of the Roadrunner family. This is my 1st year at Mirage Elementary School and I have been with Deer Valley Unified School District for over 15 years, educating students of all abilities and ages. My dedication is to help students find their abilities and thrive in their learning community. I am a graduate of Indiana University and Northern Arizona University with a BA/MA in Education/Special Education. I have taught 4th grade, Special Education, and 6th Grade.  When I am not at school, I travel, cook/bake, and am involved in many organizations impacting our community.  Traveling has allowed me to spend quality time with my family as we venture around the world visiting many countries and places. Some of the places we have visited include Egypt, Italy, and Singapore. My cooking and baking have changed over the years as I had to discover healthy and tasty foods that are more allergy friendly.  My organizational involvement at district, state and national levels are also ways for me to carry out my passion for learning. Being a part of the learning community brings happiness, joy and purpose to my day. It is because of students, families, and the school community that I received DVEF Teacher of the Year in 2017 and was nominated for Arizona Teacher of the Year 2021. I am continuing my path as an excelling educator as I am in my 2nd year of my National Board Certification journey along with continuing my gifted endorsement. I am here to facilitate success academically, socially, and emotionally with each and all of our students. I am excited about being a part of the Mirage community. Teaching drives me to be the best I can be and, in return, helps me to navigate a successful learning environment for all students. I am looking forward to the growth and forward moving that I see in the Mirage community and believe that the Mirage Values are truly going to allow all Mirage Roadrunners to soar and take flight to a great school year.
