• 1st Quarter Learning Goals 

    Math: Students will solve sums and differences to 100, using addition and subtraction of length units, and use place value, counting, and comparison of numbers to 1,000.

    ELA: Students will practice skills to better understand and comprehend a given text. Students will determine the central idea, ask and answer questions, identify the setting, monitor and clarify, tell the author’s purpose, summarize, describe characters, retell, etc.

    Writing: Students will use Thinking Maps (graphic organizers) to write narrative texts and personal narratives.

    Science: Students will plan and carry out investigations to determine matter and energy.

    Social studies: Students will identify values, rules, and communities as well as describe different weather and climates.

    2nd Quarter Learning Goals 

    Math: Students will continue to use place value, counting, and comparison of numbers to 1,000 and work to add and subtract within 200 with word problems to 100.

    ELA: Students will practice skills to better understand and comprehend a given text. Students will determine the central idea, ask and answer questions, identify the setting, monitor and clarify, tell the author’s purpose, summarize, describe characters, retell, etc.

    Writing: Students will use Thinking Maps (graphic organizers) to opinion and persuasive texts.

    Science: Students will observe and investigate the Earth and sky.

    Social studies: Students will discuss the global economy and different cultures, civilizations, and holidays.

    3rd Quarter Learning Goals

    Math: Students will add and subtract within 1,000 with word problems to 100 and develop a foundation of multiplication and division.

    ELA: Students will practice skills to better understand and comprehend a given text. Students will determine the central idea, ask and answer questions, identify the setting, monitor and clarify, tell the author’s purpose, summarize, describe characters, retell, etc.

    Writing: Students will use Thinking Maps (graphic organizers) to write narrative texts and poems.

    Science: Students will observe and investigate the Earth and sky.

    Social Studies: Students will learn about westward expansion and civil rights.

    4th Quarter Learning Goals 

    Math: Students will problem solve with length, money, and data, as well as learn about time, shapes, and fractions as equal parts of shapes.

    ELA: Students will practice skills to better understand and comprehend a given text. Students will determine the central idea, ask and answer questions, identify the setting, monitor and clarify, tell the author’s purpose, summarize, describe characters, retell, etc.

    Writing: Students will use Thinking Maps (graphic organizers) to write informational and procedural texts.

    Science: Students will learn about organisms and how they need a source of energy, air, water, and certain temperature conditions to survive.

    Social Studies: Students will learn environmental awareness and discuss early civilizations.
