I am extremely excited about being your child’s third grade reading, writing, and social studies teacher. This will be my fifteenth year teaching and my tenth year at Desert Sage. This valuable experience has given me the opportunity to create lessons aligned to college and career readiness standards, use assessments to guide instruction and provide a safe learning environment for all students.

Teaching is one of my favorite things to do! I am especially excited to be teaching at the same school that I attended when I was a child. I was born and raised in Arizona and I am the oldest of 3. I graduated from Arizona State University…Go Sun Devils! I am married to a wonderful man, Jason Garrett. We have two sweet boys named Charlie and Oliver. Charlie is 10 years old and Oliver is almost 5.

I am ready and motivated to teach and inspire my students. Providing an encouraging and nurturing environment that embraces all students and celebrates diversity is the foundation of my philosophy of education. I hope to instill a love of learning, but more than that, to rouse curiosity. Each child is an important part of my classroom community. My goal is to increase student independence, both academically and socially.  I believe that a child's school experience will forever affect their view of school.  I am planning my lessons to ensure learning for all.

Mandarin Immersion is an exciting program for our students. They are so lucky to have this opportunity. As the year progresses, I am sure I will hear lots of Mandarin spoken as the children transition into my room.
