Mrs. Antunes

Greetings Design Families!

My name is Shannen Antunes and this year I will be the MYP IB Design Teacher, as well as the Third Grade through Eighth Grade S.T.E.A.M. teacher.

This will be my 15th year teaching, and my third year as the Design teacher here at Norterra Canyon. I've attended Scottsdale Community College, Mesa Community College, Glendale Community College, and Northern Arizona University. I have an Associate degree in the Arts, and Bachelors in the Art of Elementary Education. This summer I attended over 120 hours of Coding and Robotics training, as well as caring for our school garden. I believe that this will further learning opportunities for our students and look forward to implementing new and exciting technology this year!

I love to create and problem solve. In my spare time, you will find me working in my garden, playing with or supporting my children's interests, continuing to build on my tree house, re-purposing things, and creating art. I also volunteer in before/after school groups, and other special groups outside of our school.

If you are involved in a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) career, and are interested in sharing your expertise with our students, please feel free to reach out to me, and I will try to find the best opportunities for you in our class!

Also, if you're interested in donating items to our class, please check out our class wishlist throughout the year:

Or, you can donate your recycled materials to our class. Please check your emails to find out what we might need going forward! (Recycled materials include: empty toilet paper/paper towel rolls, scrap material for sewing projects, empty egg cartons, cardboard boxes/flat sheets of cardboard, 2 liter bottles, PVC pipe, straws, etc.)

Thank you for your support this year!
