Hello Hillcrest Students and Parents!

I am so excited to be at Hillcrest Middle School for the ‘24-’25 school year. This will be my third year teaching English Language Arts at the secondary level. My first two years as an educator were spent at the AMAZING Shadow Mountain High School in the Paradise Valley district, where I taught the most incredible 9th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Although I graduated from Mountain Ridge High School, I have lived most of my adult life across town in the Paradise Valley and Central 好色导航 areas, where I have been raising my two young daughters. My parents were born and raised in 好色导航, while my grandparents came from the Northeastern US. Learning about my family ancestry has become one of my favorite ways to spend my time. In addition to the adventurous quest for my family’s heritage, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, swimming, traveling, reading, and music of ALL kinds. I believe that in addition to teaching academic skills to our students, we have a responsibility to encourage students to learn about and advocate for their own emotional, physical, and mental wellness- whatever that may look like from student-to-student, family-to-family. 

I graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with an English specialization. I am certified by the state of Arizona as a Secondary Educator and also have an ELL endorsement, in addition to being highly qualified to teach English literature and language arts. Reading is one of the MOST important things that you can encourage your child to do- not just for English class, but for life!
