• Welcome to West Wing School, home of the Mustangs!  Nestled in a picturesque mountain backdrop, West Wing School believes that our fundamental purpose is ensuring all students learn at grade level or higher. Every day we make decisions that align with our belief that all students deserve a highly effective teacher who responds to their instructional needs by providing an engaging classroom learning environment. Our cohesive, collaborative staff functions as a professional learning community focused on student learning, a commitment to a collaborative culture, and student learning results. We provide opportunities to engage students on their educational journey while simultaneously creating a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.  In addition to core content, students are provided the opportunity to learn advanced technology skills, a love for the arts through Choir, Band, and Art, as well as opportunities to develop their physical aptitude.  West Wing students enjoy participating in before and after-school clubs and classes ranging from Choir and Student Council to Yearbook or Cross Country.  Middle school students have additional opportunities to play on competitive sports teams throughout the year.

West Wing is proud to provide a variety of positive, engaging, and rigorous opportunities that ensure the unique needs of every child are met.  We are delighted to have you as a member of the West Wing Family!

Mrs. Shelly Schubert

I attended Northern Arizona University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Library Science. I began my career as a teacher-librarian at a school that served students with diverse academic needs. I then moved to the classroom where I spent many years teaching all subjects in fifth, seventh, and eighth grades. Over the years I was a classroom teacher, I earned my gifted endorsement and became a full-time gifted specialist. My journey then led me to achieve my Masters of Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University and shortly after, I served as an assistant principal at Sierra Verde STEAM Academy for three years. I served as Deer Valley Online Academy's first principal, serving over 3,600 students during the pandemic! I proudly returned to West Wing School in 2021 as the principal. I’ve been fortunate to have many varied experiences over my twenty-three years as an educator, which have allowed me to gain many perspectives and enhanced my leadership capacity.

There is no doubt in my mind that our parent community is integral to the success of our students and school. I believe in building strong relationships with each student and their family, and with the dedicated staff that has made West Wing the award-winning school it is!

I am a committed advocate for all students and I believe it is my most important endeavor as a school leader. I will ensure that students continue to be at the center of every decision at West Wing School.
