My name is Ryan Backstrom. I was born in Mississippi. I'm married to Anna Backstrom, a Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Specialist for 好色导航Fine Arts, Health, and PE. We were married in July 2005. We have 2 amazing kids, Daphne and Will. Daphne was born in June 2010 and Will was born in January 2012.

I went to Ironwood HS in Glendale and played baseball and basketball. I attended Glendale Community College where I played baseball. I transferred to Mississippi State University where I received my bachelor's degree.

This is my 20th year teaching. The first 13 years were spent teaching PE at Stetson Hills k-8 school. I was at Boulder Creek HS for the last 6 years. This is my first at Mountain Ridge. I've coached Junior High volleyball, Basketball, and Baseball. I have also spent 4 years as the Varsity assistant baseball coach at Boulder Creek and 1 season of Freshman boys volleyball. I served as the Athletic Coordinator for Stetson Hills for 12 years including District Athletic coordinator of the year in 2010. 

I'm looking forward to the new school year with the opportunities and challenges that come with the job. My goal is to create a healthy perspective and make a positive, long-lasting impact on young people's lives.
