Mr. Michael Miller

Greetings! I am one of your child’s 4th grade teachers this year. I will be teaching Social Studies and Science.  What an adventure this will be. There is new cirriculum in Social Studies and some big changes in Science.  And we get to experience this all with distance learning!

By way of introduction, I was born and raised in South Dakota. I got my degree from Northern State, and had my first teaching position as a 5th grade (all subjects) teacher. I had a minor in Theatre Arts, and offered my services as Drama Director, but was relegated to position of volunteer. When the opportunity for a theatre fellowship was offered, I left to get my MA from North Dakota State.

Armed with this new degree, I first went to Texas A&M’s Aggie Players, then back to SoDak for a year of teaching middle school, and an ultimate move to Washington, DC. I worked for several theaters in various capacities, but spent the majority of my effort with the Mt. Vernon Community Children’s Theatre.

In 2005, I made the decision to move to Arizona. My sister had been begging me to do so for several years, so when the stars aligned, I made the trek. I came with the intention of somehow returning to the classroom. I applied first as a substitute, graduated to long term substitute assignments, and have now have been at Arrowhead for the past five years (grades 2, 4 and 5).
