Mrs. Potter

Hello mountain lions, my name is Mrs. Potter and I am one of the world history teachers at Mountain Ridge! Here is a little information about me, and I look forward to learning more about YOU!

I was born in Arizona and started my college education at Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils). While I worked on my bachelors degree, I moved to Orlando, Florida to participate in the Disney College Program. There, I worked as a Disney character and studied at their Disney Terrorism Prevention Program within their Criminal Justice Department. After leaving Disney, I worked with the FBI Citizens Academy and the Violent Victim Crime Unit while I finished my degree. I graduated from ASU with a bachelors degree in criminal justice and a minor in history. After retaining my degree, I moved to LA to become certified in special effects makeup; later, I was able to work on various movies, film, magazines, and touring companies doing SPFX makeup.

After finishing my time in LA, went back to ASU to gain my masters degree in secondary education with a focus on history. Before beginning my program, I moved to Cambridge University in England, and was able to study abroad to gather as much knowledge about medieval and renaissance historical studies. While living in England, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel around Europe and make everlasting memories.

Once I received my masters, I began working in education as a teacher at the juvenile state prison. I became the curriculum advisor and department chairman for the social studies department, created a student council program, and worked with the PBIS coordinating team to install rehabilitation programs in an educational setting. I was award with State Employee of the Year from the Department of Justice, and exceeded in the MCESA observation scoring system. While spending time volunteering in the Glendale Unified School District, I was awarded Volunteer of the Year with district recognition.

I LOVE to craft, paddle board, theater, anything-Disney, and my three children... well by children I mean my three dogs :)

I love Mountain Ridge and I can't wait to create new fantastic memories with YOU this school year!
