Mrs. Schick

Hello and welcome back to school! My name is Danielle Schick and I am very excited to be your child’s First Grade teacher here at Terramar.  I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Josh, for 20 years.  We have two amazing children, boy/girl twins, Brayden and Payton, that are almost 19 years old.  Our son is working as a welder and our daughter is headed to her first year at Barret at ASU.  We also have one furry daughter, Lola (she is a Morkie).  I like to call her our 5 pound watchdog!  We moved to Arizona 13 years ago to escape the nasty weather of Illinois.  We enjoy seeing the sun 300+ days a year!  In the summer you will normally find me sitting next to the pool with a good book.  I enjoy hiking, playing board games, doing puzzles, going up north for a nice RZR ride, and then in the winter (cooler months) taking our Sandcar to Glamis, "our sandbox" and camping.

I have always loved kids.  Growing up I spent many summers working as a ‘live in nanny’ for my older sister; however, I did not realize that I wanted to be a teacher until I had my own kiddos. That gave me to push to go back to school to receive my Masters in Elementary Education.  Since becoming a teacher, I have taught 3 years in charter schools and 10 years in DVUSD.  I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 4th grade. 1st Grade is by far my favorite grade level!  There is so much academic growth that happens in our year together.  One of my favorite parts of teaching is that my students become an extension of my family.  I enjoy getting to know each student, as an individual, so I can help them reach success.  I am looking forward to a great year with you and your child.
