I have been teaching for over 18 years and have spent most of the time in first grade.  This is a grade that has captured my heart and I love the teaching and learning that happens with 6 and 7 year olds.  I began teaching in the Washington School District and came to Deer Valley in 2008. I have absolutely loved my time here.  I love the primary grades and believe strongly in the importance of creating a good foundation for learning early.
     

I graduated from ASU with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology.  Shortly after graduation, I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling with a Human Relations Emphasis from NAU.  I have both my SEI and Early Childhood endorsements.  I am currently working on obtaining my gifted endorsement.

On the personal side,  I have 2 amazing children that both attended school in the Deer Valley School District.  We have lived in the  Stetson Valley area since it was developed.  I have one daughter, Meagan, and one son, Andrew, who your kids will hear a lot about this year.   Meagan graduated from Georgia State University in 2021 with a degree in Kinesiology and is currently completing her Master's Degree in Health Administration at Grand Canyon University.  In June she accepted a position with a BioMedical Company in Houston.  Sad she is far away but I am very excited for her.  Andrew is beginning his  Junior year at ASU and is studying Civil Engineering/Business.   He is also interning with Kimley-Horn when he is not going to school.  I have been kept very busy over the years watching them play beach volleyball and football.  As you can probably guess, I am a huge sports fan and love to support our local teams.  My happy place is the beach and I go  as often as I can.  I am looking forward to a great year!
