    Dear Students,

    Welcome!

      1. These policies and guidelines help create a structured and open learning environment. Instruction will align with state standards and state approved curriculum. Here's a summary of each policy and its purpose:

        1. Start Neutral Policy

        • Purpose: To ensure an unbiased approach to all topics.

        • Guideline: Approach all positions with an open mind before advocating for any specific position.

        2. Speak to Teacher First Policy

        • Purpose: To maintain clear communication and prevent misunderstandings.

        • Guideline: Discuss any concerns or sensitive matters with the teacher directly.

        3. Growth Policy

        • Purpose: To foster a mindset of continuous improvement.

        • Guideline: Emphasize learning and personal growth in all activities.

        4. Address Ideas, Not the Person Policy

        • Purpose: To promote respectful and constructive discussions.

        • Guideline: Focus on analyzing and understanding ideas rather than addressing individuals. Practice empathy by considering and even defending opposing viewpoints.

        5. Class Structure

        • Purpose: To provide a balanced and effective classroom routine.

        • Guideline: Adhere to the following structure:

          • 15 Minutes: Bell Ringer/Mind Activator/Group Discussion/Restroom

          • 20 Minutes: Teacher Lecture/Lesson - Seat Lock, Quiet, Participating

          • 20 Minutes: Open Classroom for Individual/Group work, Restroom (Unfinished work becomes homework)

        6. Exception to the Rule Policy

        • Purpose: To allow flexibility while maintaining overall structure.

        • Guideline: Understand that exceptions can be made, but they should not become frequent. The teacher has the final say.

        7. Academic Language

        • Purpose: To reinforce comprehension and communication skills.

        • Guideline: Repeat questions in responses to ensure clarity and understanding.

These policies aim to create a respectful, engaging, and productive classroom environment where students can thrive academically and personally.

        Expectations:

      2. Follow CReeD expectations

    1. Remember, our classroom is a community, and we all play a role in creating a positive and conducive learning environment. Let's work together to make this year an enjoyable and successful one!

      Sincerely,
