         The kids love this game. If you don't have a grabber, just cut out the letters, wad them up, and throw them on the floor. Have your child pick it up and tell you the letter and then the letter sounds if they know it. If they don't know it just yet, tell them the letter and go over the sound with them.

    Memory Game

    Print pictures with the names of 8 different dinosaurs or just pictures of the dinosaurs. Print 2 copies of each, cut apart, and it's an instant memory/matching game. Or can be used for dinosaur identification. This can be used with any topic of interest or that your child is learning about.

    Remember that children in preschool Learn Through Play. You do not need flash cards and such. Play games like "I Spy". This game can be done with colors, shapes, letters, etc... just make it fun. Play is a child's "work" and I am a strong supporter of children learning through play.

    Play Encourages Communication:

         Play allows children the opportunity to develop speech and language skills as well as listening skills. Children talk and listen while they play.

    Play Encourages Cognitive Development:

         Children who engage in pretend play tend to have more sophisticated levels of interaction with others. There is more and more evidence that supports the connections between cognitive ability and high-quality pretend play.

    Play Encourages Relationship Building:

         Play helps to promote the development of social skills. Children who play with their parents/teachers and peers/siblings learn how relationships work through their play experiences.

     Some Ways To Incooperate Play With Your Child:

         * Play simple board games with your child, or simple card games like 'Go Fish' or 'Memory'.

         * Read books and tell jokes and riddles.

         * Encourage building and construction games.

         * Do simple jigsaw puzzles.
