    Welcome to

    Copper Creek Gifted Services

"Giftedness is asynchronous development in which advanced cognitive abilities and heightened intensity combine to create inner experiences and awareness that are qualitatively different from the norm. This asynchrony increases with higher intellectual capacity. The uniqueness of the gifted renders them particularly vulnerable and requires modifications in parenting, teaching and counseling in order for them to develop optimally." The Columbus Group, 1991, cited by Martha Morelock, "", in, January 1992

Gifted individuals think differently, which in return leads to learning quicker. They can make connections quickly that most individuals do not see. Think of them as "out of the box" thinkers. Not all "bright" children are gifted and in return not all "gifted" children achieve. The needs of the gifted are as unique as each individual. Please refer to the link Bright vs Gifted for a list of characteristics and differences.
