Mrs. Stutesman

It is a great privilege to be part of the Highland Lakes community. I am excited about the upcoming year, which promises to bring fun challenges and learning opportunities for both my students and myself! This marks my 11th year at Highland Lakes. Before joining DVUSD, I taught in the Peoria Unified School District.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Psychology from the University of Arizona—Go Wildcats! I then completed my Master’s in Education at NAU. I hold endorsements in Structured English Immersion, Reading,  and Middle School Language Arts.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family. Our weekends often involve playing with our grandson, Dylan, or making trips to the U of A, watching our daughter run a marathon, or working on the latest home project!  I love being a mom, and my husband, who is a principal in the Peoria Unified School District, and I frequently discuss educational topics over dinner. We are both passionate about our children’s futures and the students we work with daily.

Our eldest, Derek, a former Wildcat, lives in the Valley with his wife, Amanda, and our 4-year-old grandson, Dylan. Our daughter, Emily, just graduated from New Mexico State University—Go Aggies!—where she competed in both cross-country and track. Our youngest, Craig, is also a Wildcat, studying at U of A. Our family is completed by our boxer, Lulu. Life is wonderfully chaotic, but I cherish every moment and look forward to sharing this journey with your child.

I was born and raised in 好色导航 and enjoy the warm weather. When it gets too hot, we escape to our family cabin in Blue Ridge, which is just over 2 hours outside the city and about 25 degrees cooler. My family loves hiking, camping, going to the beach, and playing games. When not in the valley or the mountains, my favorite place is on a beach with a good book.

Teaching children is an incredible joy. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives. My door is always open, and I look forward to the partnership we will share this year. It’s going to be EXTRADIONARY!
