Greetings! My name is Sajan Mathew, and it brings me immense joy to be celebrating my 16th year at DVUSD. I am a holder of an Arizona Teacher Certification in Middle School Social Sciences, High School Political Science, and American Government. Additionally, I hold Masters degrees in Political Science, Education, and Sociology.

I taught Social Studies to 11th and 12th graders for seven years while I was in India. After making the move to Arizona, I embraced a new chapter in my career, dedicating seven years to Special Education at Highland Lakes School. In 2015-16, I had the joy of teaching 7th and 8th graders Social Studies at Terramar Elementary, and since then, I have been wholeheartedly engaged as a 7th-grade Social Studies teacher at Highland Lakes.  

  As a parent of two gifted children, I feel a strong connection with my students and understand what they expect from their teacher each day. My experience with special-needs children has touched my heart and transformed the way I approach teaching. It has shown me the incredible impact a caring and compassionate educator can have on a child's life. 

Beyond the classroom, I find delight in exploring the world's diverse cultures alongside my family, allowing me to share unique insights and perspectives with my students.   I want to express my sincere gratitude to the parents for entrusting their children's education to me.
