  • The PSAT will be offered at Deer Valley High School on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:30am. It will cost $25. Registration closes on 9/30/2024.

To register for the exam, .

High school 11th grade students are highly encouraged to take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in order to prepare for taking the SAT college entrance exam in their senior year. This test is also used as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship and the National Hispanic Recognition Program for students taking the test in their junior year.

The PSAT is typically taken in a student’s junior year. Sophomores may also benefit from participating in this testing opportunity to determine what academic skills they should focus on improving in order to be better prepared for college and for practice before taking the test in their junior year when they can be considered for National Merit Scholarships.

The PSAT/NMSQT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of 2 sections: (1) the Reading and Writing Section, and (2) the Math Section. Most of the questions are multiple choice, though some math questions ask you to write in the answer rather than select it. Students will receive score reports showing which answers they answered right and wrong, how they performed on specific academic skills, and how their scores compare to other students across the country.
