  • The PSAT will be offered at Deer Valley High School on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:30am. It will cost $25. Registration closes on 9/30/2024.

To register for the exam, .

High school 11th grade students are highly encouraged to take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in order to prepare for taking the SAT college entrance exam in their senior year. This test is also used as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship and the National Hispanic Recognition Program for students taking the test in their junior year.

The PSAT is typically taken in a student’s junior year. Sophomores may also benefit from participating in this testing opportunity to determine what academic skills they should focus on improving in order to be better prepared for college and for practice before taking the test in their junior year when they can be considered for National Merit Scholarships.

The PSAT/NMSQT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of 2 sections: (1) the Reading and Writing Section, and (2) the Math Section. Most of the questions are multiple choice, though some math questions ask you to write in the answer rather than select it. Students will receive score reports showing which answers they answered right and wrong, how they performed on specific academic skills, and how their scores compare to other students across the country.

    Registering for dual enrollment:

    New Students:

    • Many of you completed the admission steps last spring here on campus but if you haven’t done them yet, please refer to the steps for enrollment.
    • If you are a sophomore, you will have to take the reading placement test, if you didn’t take it last spring. You don’t need a particular score, you just have to take the test. Testing information is step 2 on the enrollment steps.

    Returning Students:

    • Rio has already registered you for your classes and you should have received an email from Rio letting you know you have a balance. Please check your student center to see which classes you are enrolled in.
    • Attached you will find the course section numbers if you need to go in and enroll in other classes, which you will do in your student center. It is step 3 on the enrollment steps I have attached.
    • Also, attached are the course section numbers. Disregard the class periods, the section number are correct.

Registration and payment must be completed on or before August 16. If not completed by this date, students will be removed from their dual enrollment classes and will purged for non-payment by the college.

You will be registering for fall and spring classes at this time if the class is a semester class. Some classes are yearlong classes and you will only register for those classes in the fall (Ex: BIO 160 is a full year class).

If you have questions while registering for your Rio classes, please contact Rio at 480-517-8080 or dual.enrollment@riosalado.edu or Alejandra Lozano – Alejandra.lozano@riosalado.edu Please contact Denise.Darre@dvusd.org if you have any other questions.
