      Classroom Procedures

      Absences/Tardies:

Please contact the attendance line if your child is ill.  Send me a message on ClassDojo because I worry, too! If your child is late for school, s/he must be signed in through the office and given a pass.

      School Office: (623) 376-4300

      Attendance: (623) 376-4390

      Drop Off/Pick Up:

Students may be dropped off in the morning at 8:30 a.m. through the bike rack gate and procede to the playground. We line up and enter the class at the 8:40 a.m. bell. School begins promptly at 8:45 a.m.

Student pick up time is 3:30 p.m. At dismissal time, we will walk the students out to the pick-up area which is located to the left of the kindergarten gate.  Make sure your student knows where you will be during dismissal throughout the year to make for a smoother transition from teacher to parent.

      Lunch/Snack:

Students can either bring a lunch or purchase from the cafeteria.

Snack time will be in the morning and provided by parents. Please do not forget to bring snacks even if you buy lunch! We have students with allergies, so therefore, NO PEANUT OR NUT PRODUCTS will be allowed for snack time. However, nuts can be brought in student lunches as those with allergies will be seated safely away from these products.

*Recess will be in the morning and again, right after lunch.

*Water bottles should be sent in daily (please include your students' names clearly on the bottle).

*All pertinent information regarding payment, menus, and birthday club orders can be found on the

      Food Services page: /page/242

      Birthdays/ Birthday Bucket:

A birthday is a very important event for our students.  If you would like to send a treat on your child's special day, you are invited to do so.

All treats must be pre-packaged and must NOT have nuts, nut products or products made in factories with nuts.

As an alternative, you can be a part of our "Birthday Bucket" cafeteria program and order treats through the school cafeteria.

      Volunteers/Parties/Field Trips:

Parents play a huge role in the success of a school year. Classroom volunteers complete tasks that include making copies, filing, reading with small groups of students and supporting students while monitoring centers.

Parties are cherished events for students. We love to celebrate! Room parents facilitate these events with helpers to assist in the fun!

Field Trips are also a fun learning opportunity for our students. We need chaperones to attend and monitor groups of students.

****All parents are required to complete the Volunteer Training prior to working directly with the students****

      Behavior:

      Responsible Thinkng

      Natural Consequences

      Whole Brain Rules

      Bear Tracks Card

      Dress Code:

Highland Lakes has a dress code that is written in the discipline handbook. We just want to point out a few dress code requirements for the safety of lower elementary students.

      * Have your child wear athletic or closed-toed shoes for P.E. days and play on playground equipment.

      * Have your child wear clothing suitable for arts and crafts and messy play.

      * If your child wants to wear a dress, have them wear shorts underneath.

      * Please place a ziplock bag with an extra set of fresh clothing in the event it is needed.
