Mrs. Cooper

My name is Kristi Cooper. This will be my 30th year teaching for Deer Valley Unified.  I attended Deer Valley schools from the time I was in second grade, to the time I graduated from Deer Valley High School in 1990. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from ASU, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood from NAU, and a reading specialist endorsement. I started teaching in Deer Valley in 1994.  I taught two years of third grade, 12 years of first grade, and was a K-3 reading specialist for 15 years.

I am very excited to be teaching here at Sonoran Foothills with such amazing students and staff. I want all parents to know that if I am working with your child, I am doing everything in my power to help them attain the strategies and skills necessary to become confident and successful readers. My goal as an educator is to provide a developmentally appropriate learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student using engaging and relevant activities. In my classroom, I try to provide an environment in which students can; feel safe to share their ideas, encourage one another, and work as a team to help each other be successful!  I look forward to another wonderful year here at Sonoran Foothills!
