• Welcome to Mr. Craig's 6th Grade Math Class

6th grade is an exciting year for our young mathematicians! It is at this stage when students begin to learn how to use all the basic math skills they have learned so far and apply them to higher mathematic reasoning.

It is imperative that my students and I create a positive learning environment. Due to the various types of intelligence (Kinetic, Visual, Aural, etc.), many mathematical concepts are difficult to convey to every student in any one certain way. Our students MUST be able to feel comfortable expressing any confusion involving the topic at hand. Math progress depends heavily on understanding one concept before moving on to another, if our students are not comfortable with raising their hand, chances are they will fall behind to some degree. Of course, that involves creating a culture in the classroom that relies on non-judgement, understanding, a willingness to help others, and the confidence to ask for help when needed. Please see my classroom expectations for further information on how I intend to create that type of culture for our classroom.

Parents and families, your support and involvement are key to our success. Feel free to reach out with any concerns as we work together to ensure that every student achieves their full potential. Let's make this year in math class a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved!
