• We use a Clip Chart Behavior plan in my classroom. Each student has a clothespin.  Everyone's clothespin begins the day in the middle of the chart on green, Ready to Learn. Students may be asked to move their clothespin up or down the chart during the day depending on their choices. Here is a model of the Clip Chart and what each space on the chart means:

If students move their clip to red they add a special decoration to their clip and receive a note to take home. Students move to yellow for making good choices. Other students congratulate the student.

All students begin every day on green. They will move up or down during the day depending on the choices they make. Students move to blue as a reminder that they need to follow the classroom rules. When students move to purple they will receive a logical consequence.** Students who move to pink complete a Stop & Think Reflection. This will come home to be signed by a parent and returned. Depending on the action, the student may also lose a classroom privilege.

**We believe in using logical consequences. Examples of consequences for choosing not to follow our classroom and school character philosophy might be: A student who is running will go back and practice walking. A student who is saying unkind words to a classmate will say something nice about that classmate. a student who is not using materials correctly will not be allowed to use those for a short time.
