Hello! I’m Mr. Douglas

I am Mr. Douglas and I’m thrilled that you will be in my class this year. I look forward to getting to know you more through this school year. I have had the privilege of working with the amazing Boulder Creek High School Choirs for twelve incredible years. Before teaching at Boulder Creek, I taught at Gavilan Peak Elementary for one year. 

I earned my education degree at Ottawa University and my performing degree at California State University, Northridge. Along with singing in numerous choirs, I have also worked as a professional soloist/actor throughout North America and Europe. Recently I was selected to receive the OM Hartsell “Excellence in Teaching Music” award through the AMEA (Arizona Music Educators Association) and was recognized as the 2017 Deer Valley Teacher of the Year.

In 2012, I had the opportunity to work in Italy singing opera and working as the assistant to the music director with the Lorenzo Malfatti Academia Vocale di Lucca. In addition to loving my job as a teacher and performer, I am in my fourth term serving on the Arizona Choral Educators Board. Most recently I am in the role of President Elect. My most proud accomplishment was conducting and performing on the stage at Carnegie Hall. I am most thankful for my students through the year and what they have taught me.
