好色导航work: Read with your student every day. This will help them learn the rhythm, tone, and voice of reading. You can read to them in English or another language, as it will still help your student grow. Your student will keep their Book Bag in their backpack every day. In the Book Bag, you will find their week's class paper books. These include their sight words they learn each week. Please read each sentence to them and have them repeat and point to the words as they read it back to you. If your student needs a challenge, have them read a book of their choice.
We will work hard in class every day (including writing, reading, and math). Your student will need rest and fun at home. Play a board game, card game, or have craft time together! Cooking as a family also helps with math and reading!
P.E./Playground: Students in grades K-2 have 2 recesses each day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). They need closed-toe shoes (tennis shoes) so they are as safe as possible. Flip-flops and sandals are not recommended.
Behavior: Students earn points on ClassDojo. You may view your child's points each day. I may reach out to you on ClassDojo or by phone if I need your support with behavior or have a question. Thank you for partnering with me this year.
Water bottle: Your student will need a water bottle labeled with their name, every day. Our weather is very hot most of the year, and they will be encouraged to keep hydrated throughout the day.
E-mail and contact hours: Sunrise has implemented email office hours and a curfew to ensure our staff members maintain a healthy work life balance and are fresh coming into work each day. This enables us to give our very best every day at work. Our staff members will check emails Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 8:30 am and 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Emails are responded to within a 48 hour time period (excluding weekends & school holidays). If this matter needs to be addressed more quickly, please call the office at (602)467-5900.
Contacting the teacher: I use ClassDojo and e-mail (Judy.Dallas@dvusd.org), both within 24 hours.
I look forward to working together to help your child grow academically, socially, and behaviorally!
