Americorps VISTA

Program: 2 Week Boarding Program at the University of Arizona to help students ages 14-17 years old to learn about careers in plant and animal science and wildlife management.

Requirements:               Full-time high school students and enrolled in college-track courses

                                    Completed sophomore year by the end of spring semester

                                    Cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.25 or above

                                    Minimum grade of “B” or better grades in all math and science courses

                                    Must have completed Alg 3-4 or higher by the end of the spring semester

                                    High school seniors are eligible but must be enrolled for fall semester at ASU.

Arizona State University (College of Technology and Innovation)

Program:                Startup Academy is an immersive entrepreneurship experience open to juniors and seniors from any Arizona high school.  Students will propose ideas, vote to select the best ideas, form teams, and develop the selected ideas into viable business models under guidance of CTI faculty and experienced entrepreneurship mentors.

Boys State

Program:Junior male students who have an interest in politics and/or government and are nominated by the BCHS scholarship committee to attend the entire week session.Student should be strong in the follow areas:  leadership, character, co-operation, and community/school participation and service. Cost to the student to attend the session is only $400.

Award: One Week Session in June at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff

Program:High-energy, interactive one-week leadership program at ASU for Arizona high school sophomores and junior students.  Selected students participate in workshops where they explore higher education, develop leadership skills and participate in a community service project while living on the ASU campus.

Dates:June 8th - 14th

Award:Approximately 60 students will be selected to participate.  Students will reside in a dormitory on the ASU Tempe campus while attending a series of workshops conducted by successful community, business, and university leaders.  There is no cost to the student or his/her family for any of the services or activities included in the program.  The Institute will cover all meals, residential housing fees, and training materials.  Participants will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the ASU campus.  Students will not be allowed to bring a vehicle to the Institute.

Future Latino Leaders Law Camp

Program:Latino/Hispanic Sophomore and Junior students interested in a week long high impact program which includes real college experience, participation in trainings on leadership and developing valuable life skills, workshops on SAT prep, college admissions, scholarships and internships.  Students will have the opportunity to meet U.S. Senators and Representatives and other high ranking Latino leaders.  Tour the White House, the U.S. Capitol, Department of Justice, and Supreme Court.

National Student Leadership Conference

Program:Leadership conference for students who have demonstrated excellence and extracurricular involvement.  NSLC encourages diversity and places high value on community service and social responsibility.  Nominated students should have a minimum of a 'B' average and demonstrate leadership potential.  The NSLC accepts nominations from current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students.

Earn up to 3 College Credits but there is a cost to attend this leadership program.

National Youth Ambassador Exchange Program

Program: City of ºÃÉ«µ¼º½ program that offers unique opportunities to represent the city in 9 sister cities around the world.  Students interested in study abroad and global awareness are encouraged to learn more about this exciting ambassador program.

Program:Program for students who are interested in Engineering.  Students will learn to design aerodynamic cars using Solid Works CAD software and build models with 3-D Rapid Prototyping technology.

University of Arizona – Honors Summer Academy

Program: A new summer program for high-ability and high-achieving high school students who have just completed their junior or senior year.  Select students who have completed their sophomore year may also be eligible to apply.  The Academy will provide students with the ability to take UA Honors College courses taught by Honors Faculty members.  These interdisciplinary coursed will include work in humanities, arts, social sciences, and science.  Students will also have to live in a residence hall, participate in off-campus classes and field trips, and have structured study time.

W.P. Carey Fleischer Scholars Program

Criteria: The program is free to underrepresented and economically disadvantaged high school students.  Students should be interested in business careers.

Program:Four Unique Programs including: Science and Ph

Yale Young Global Scholars Program

Program: Consists of two distinct sessions which is recommended that students take them consecutively but students have the option to take just one.  Includes two weeks of intensive lectures, seminars, and hands-on experiences with Yale's world-renowned and award-winning faculty.  This program attracts sophomores or juniors and introduces them to students from all over the world as well as provides them the opportunity to meet directly with Yale College admissions officers. 

Cost:  $4500 which includes tuition, housing and meals  Financial aid is available.  Unfortunately, the cost of travel is not included nor does it include the non-refundable $50 application fee.

Young Ambassadors Program

Program: National program for graduating high school seniors aimed at fostering the next generation of Latino leaders in the arts, sciences, and humanities via the Smithsonian Institution and its resources.  YAP is a college preparatory and leadership program encouraging participants to explore various academic and career opportunities through the lens of the Latino experience. 

Award:  One week interdisciplinary training seminar at the Smithsonian followed by a four-week paid internship in museums and cultural institutions in local communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Youth Exchange Scholarship Program

Program: The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) is an overseas study of seven critical foreign languages: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Korean, Persian (Tajik), Russian and Turkish.  The NSLI-Y Program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country, giving them invaluable formal and informal language practice and sparking a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures.
